Ten restaurant employees test Covid positive in Andheri

MUMBAI: Ten out of 35 staff members of a Andheri

 restaurant were found Covid

 positive during a routine testing drive by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation

 (BMC

) earlier this week.

The 10 staff have now been shifted to the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC

) jumbo Covid facility while high risk contacts of the ten have been moved into quarantine facility.

The hotel was asked to stay shut for two days and has been directed to begin operations only after deploying new staff is deployed.

Vishwas Mote, assistant municipal commissioner of BMC K west ward said, “During testing drive, we checked the staff at Andheri Radhakrishna hotel and found that 10 are positive for Covid-19. Immediately we asked the restaurant to be closed and moved the positive and high risk contacts into the concerned facility of the civic body.”

Mote said the restaurant will not be allowed to function if new staff is not deployed and their teams would be checking the same for the safety of public at large.

The BMC has once again launched aggressive testing owing to the surge in Covid cases in the city.
